In our modern world, many men struggle with what may feel like a conflict between their careers and their faith walk. Men struggle with earning an income, sometimes even feel guilty about earning an income. So are men supposed to go to work and earn an income for our families, or leave the workplace and go be missionaries? The way we think about these issues, about money, about career, about the workplace, and about our calling is critical.
My guest today, Brian Schulenburg, has been a pastor for several decades, and he is also a business owner in the world or real estate. He brings great experience to this conversation, so let’s get started.
Brian has served as Wooddale’s discipleship pastor since 2018. This is his second stint at Wooddale, having served as our senior high pastor from 2001-2008. He spent a decade as the senior pastor of Woodbury Community Church. Brian has a heart for seeing people become followers of Jesus. From the time God captured his heart as a child, Brian has been introducing people to Jesus. He loves walking alongside others as they discover who God made them to be. He has served as a police chaplain with the Eden Prairie Police Department.
In addition to his work as a pastor, Brian is a 3rd generation realtor, who has helped people buying and selling real estate all over the Twin Cities.
Married for over 30 years to his wife Cyndi, the Schulenburgs are parents to four adult children. They are also grandparents. Brian is a graduate of Liberty University and Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. Brian loves being on the water of a Minnesota lake, fishing, playing disc golf, geocaching, board games, superhero movies, comic books, baseball and basketball. You’ll also find him stocking books in the little free library in front of his home.
